With this shift, our planet is all set to move closer towards the fulfillment of a prophecy in Revelation 22. In this article we take a closer look at the purpose of the city of Eden, who ruled this realm over time and its current ruler and its future as prophesied in the book of Revelation.

Read on to discover a completely new revelation about the heavenly city of Eden and your role in it.

Its significance

This heavenly city was established by God as the spiritual headquarters of the planet earth. After God formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, He placed him in the realm of Eden. As long as Adam remained in Eden, he had sovereign authority over the planet earth and could subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moved on the earth as we read in Genesis 1:28.

As Earth's spiritual headquarters, the heavenly Eden plays a significant role in the planet's affairs. Whoever rules the city of Eden has spiritual dominion over the entire earth. The spiritual atmosphere of the planet can change significantly, depending on who is in charge of Eden. Let's look at different eras of dominion over the spiritual realm of Eden and its impact over the world.

Its golden era

As we saw earlier, after God created Adam, He placed him in Eden. During the initial few years after the creation of Adam, the city of Eden had its golden era.

From a physical perspective, even though Adam lived on earth, from a spiritual perspective, he remained in the realm of heavenly Eden. When Adam was created, he had an ordinary spirit, just like any of us have. As a result of living in the realm of Eden, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and being in communion with God and fulfilling his calling as the king of planet Earth, Adam had evolved into a cosmic spiritual giant with powerful spiritual capabilities. His body was engulfed in God's glory, so he didn't need garments to cover his nakedness.

As Earth's spiritual headquarters, Eden plays a significant role in the planet's affairs. Whoever rules the city of Eden has spiritual dominion over the entire earth

He was not a materialistic man concerned about worldly possessions, career growth, fame, wealth, food, entertainment etc. His heart was fixed on the things above. He shared an intimacy with God and God enjoyed his communion with Adam on the cool of every evening.

He was an immortal being as death had no hold over him because he had not yet sinned. The Devil had no hold over his life either. The time before the fall was a golden era and it was like heaven on earth. Through the obedience of Adam, God Almighty had absolute authority over Eden and over planet earth. The golden era of Eden however could not last long. It ended with the fall.

Its dark era

Immediately after the fall, heavenly Eden entered its dark era. Adam was thrown out of Eden and hence lost his dominion over the planet. He lost the privilege of being a cosmic spiritual giant and became an ordinary human with no spiritual authority and power. He lost the glory of God that used to engulf his body and needed clothes to cover himself. From a spiritual man, he turned into a worldly man who is primarily concerned about things of this world such as food, material possessions, his shelter etc.

Adam lost his intimacy with God and got cut off  from Him. As he lost access to the spiritual realm, he had no way to commune with God. Through disobedience and sin, the Devil gained spiritual authority over his life and Adam became his slave. Just as God had absolute authority over Eden and planet Earth in the golden era through Adam’s obedience, the Devil gained authority over Eden and planet earth through his disobedience. The Devil gained legal right over Eden because of the authority God has given to Adam to subdue Earth and his spiritual authority over Adam.

Apostle Paul could recapture a part of Eden and he could bring many to Christ due to the partial control he had gained over planet earth

Using the spiritual authority gained through Adam's disobedience, the Devil filled the realm of Eden with darkness and started infiltrating the planet earth with his darkness. Representing the planet earth, the Devil even had a seat in the heavenly court. (It was during a meeting of the heavenly court, God had asked the Devil. “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil.”)

The strategic position in the spiritual headquarters of the planet earth gave the Devil significant control over it. His throne in Eden, won him the title “prince of this world” and the “ruler of the kingdom of the air” in the Bible.

As an absolute authority over planet earth, he could manipulate humans to destroy the works of God. We see this over and over again in the Bible. Here are a few examples

He used Pharaoh to fight the deliverance of Israel out of Egypt.

He infuriated queen Jezebel to kill prophet Elijah.

He worked through Herodias to behead John the Baptist.

He enraged the nation of Israel to crucify Lord Jesus on the cross.

He also crucified or killed most of the 12 disciples of Christ.

After the sacrificial death of  Christ on the cross, the Devil lost his legal right to continue as the Prince of the world and he lost his seat in the heavenly court as a representative of planet Earth. However; he could continue to rule Eden because of the authority mankind has given him.

The 11 disciples of Christ (leaving Judas who died early) could not recapture the realm of Eden from the Devil. Instead the Devil took most of their lives. Apostle Paul could recapture a part of Eden and he could bring many to Christ due to the partial control he had gained over planet earth. Over a period of time. Apostle Paul had grown to become a cosmic giant just like Adam was before the fall and he could get established in his God given authority over the planet.

After the death of the apostle Paul, the Devil regained full control over Eden and has been ruling and reigning planet earth since then, deceiving, persecuting and opposing the disciples of Christ.

Its restoration

After being in the dark era for thousands of years, Eden is experiencing a breakthrough today. The planet Earth has made significant progress in its prophetic fulfillment. Heavenly Eden's dark era has come to an end and the city of Eden is recaptured by the kingdom of God fully and it will be restored back to its former glory.

God has raised a few individuals like the apostle Paul, with very high authority in God's kingdom. Through their obedience, God has ended the illegal reign of the Devil over Eden and he is dethroned. The realm of Eden is now under the authority of God through the obedience of a few chosen individuals.

Lord Jesus has replaced the Devil as the "Prince of this world" and has set up his throne in Eden as the spiritual head of planet Earth

The Devil is no more the “prince of this world” or the “ruler of the kingdom of the air”. Yes; you heard it right. Lord Jesus has replaced him as the Prince of this world and has set up his throne in Eden as the spiritual head of planet Earth. After being in the dark era for thousands of years, our planet is finally set free and has re-entered the golden era.

Its future glory

The restoration of Eden is prophesied in Revelation 22. “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb, down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever”

Our role in it

A huge opportunity has now become available for disciples of Christ to position themselves in the realm of Eden and establish the rule of God over the planet. Just like Adam during Eden's Golden Era, we can now have dominion over planet earth. As long as we remain in Eden, we  have sovereign authority over the planet earth and can subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on earth as we read in Genesis 1:28.

As disciples of Christ living in the end times, we have a unique opportunity to partake in the rebuilding of the city of Eden. The process of restoration has begun. Each of us are called to establish ourselves in the realm of Eden and exercise our authority over planet earth and bring the planet under the rule of God Almighty. Let's take part in this unique opportunity and be a partner in rebuilding the city of Eden.
